The detail in the design is exquisite. It’s understated, yet the thorough thought put in the design process is obvious.
It’s something that will excite you when you see it from outside the window of a Commonwealth store, pulling you inside like a magnet. The sneaker makes you curious and stimulates your senses as you check the design. I guess that’s kind of the point. Co-founder, Omar Quiambo, says that the sneaker tries to bring back a sense of discovery in the retail floor.
The adidas Consortium Response CL is a homage to 2000s running technologies based on some archived technology like the 2003 Response Cushion and the 2007 Response Control. It houses a curated set of material and colors featuring earthly tones, suede, and stitched down leather.
As part of the campaign, Commonwealth caught up with the global Commonwealth team and saw how they were doing amidst that is going in the world right now.
Commonwealth is a specialty retail store founded by Omar Quiambao and Mike Concepcion in 2004 in Virginia. It has stores in Washington, D.C., Los Angeles and Manila. Its first Adidas Consortium collaboration was inspired by the Philippine coast.
