Major artists collaborating with large fashion brands is nothing new. The partnerships are simply a testament to the intertwined nature of both industries. Following this mold, Canadian singer and songwriter, The Weeknd, signed with Puma back in 2016 along with Rihanna.
Aside from this, the award-winning artist began his own label, XO, releasing several pieces of apparel and sneakers. However, as new releases winded down, we sort of forgot about the brand. Thankfully, we are reminded of its existence with a very important collaboration. XO and Bape will be partnering up to produce a new iteration of one of the most iconic sneakers of all time: The Bape Sta.
The XO x Bape Sta comes in two colorways, the first of which is black and neon green. At first glance, the sneaker pops out through the contrast presented by both dark and bright colors. In line with the other loud existing Bape Sta colorways, this sneaker adds to the list. While the pair dons the signature Bape branding on the side panel and tongue, XO branding makes its way to the deubré and tongue.
For an alternate colorway, the collaboration between XO and Bape offers a white and neon green version of the Bape Sta. While the design remains exactly the same, the shift of colors makes a huge impact on the sneaker. Presenting a more subtle aesthetic, the white colorway of this pair is a more viable option for sneakerheads who would rather lay low.
Releasing on December 12, 2020, this sneaker will be made available through Bape’s Website as well as The Weeknd’s Online Store.
