2020 is yet an interesting year for the Air Jordan 1, as even general release (GR) pairs are hyped up in the sense that resell prices are higher than usual. Some GR pairs command unusually high resell prices, and the Dark Mocha is one of them.

Touted as the “Poor Man’s Travis Scott 1s”, the Dark Mocha follows the classic Black Toe Air Jordan 1 color blocking, replacing the usual red with a shade of Dark Mocha that makes it look similar to the hyped-up (and very expensive) Travis Scott 1 Highs.

With resell prices going at around Php 16-17k, it is really interesting to see how a GR pair commands a higher resell price than a Co.JP pair like the Midnight Navy–which is suppose to be more limited than the Dark Mocha.

The Co.JP’s higher SRP (the Midnight Navy retailed for Php 8,295 while the Dark Mocha retailed for Php 8,095) is evident with its choice of materials for the upper–among these include more generous use of higher-quality nubuck, tumbled leather for the rest of the upper and the tongue (with the embroidered Nike Air branding), and a slightly more padded ankle collar.

That being said, the Dark Mocha’s higher demand boils down to its indirect Travis Scott association–since it is an “affordable” alternative to Travis’ signature Air Jordan 1s.

Are the Dark Mochas deserving of the hype? Check out the video below to know my thoughts about the Air Jordan 1 High Dark Mocha:
