Fresh from his much talked about and anticipated album Certified Lover Boy, controversial rapper Drake just revealed via Instagram a trio of Nike clothing that draws inspiration from his latest musical exploration.
Through his IG stories, the rapper just revealed a trio of black shirts that sport a Nike Swoosh on the front along with some floral patterns. From the looks of it, the said shirts carry lines from the album such as:
“Should’ve Said You Loved Me Today Because Tomorrow is a New Day”
“Something Other Than Me Has Got to Give”
“I Don’t Miss…Let Alone Miss You.”
If you look at these pieces, they seem to be a bit underwhelming if you’re familiar with his other Nike collaborations, including the NOCTA collection which perfectly captures his overall “streetwise/hustler” vibe.
Maybe the latest lineup just is a bit too “Sadboy-ish” for the average Drake fan or we may be wrong.
We just think it’s just missing some edge to it, or maybe it’s just too underwhelming of a shirt lineup for someone who’s supposedly got more up his sleeve. Upon first glance, you’d think these shirts would come out of an indie band, not a rapper of his caliber.
Also, here’s a tease on what the accompanying Nike Air Force 1’s will look like. I mean, if you’re given a chance to make your own shoe with the Swoosh? It’s a bit too subtle for our tastes. We’re hoping they’d throw in a graphic on there. Just saying!
Incidentally, OVO Mark — one of the rapper’s best friends and OVO resident crew — went on IG live to give away the merch to random fans. The video also shows Drake Canadian saying hi to the lucky fans.
No release just yet but expect the collection to coincide with the drop of Certified Lover Boy this coming September 3.
