After several months of teasing, we finally get our first peek at the new Filipino animated series based heavily on Filipino folklore. Trese is set to release on Netflix on June 11, and the streaming company has officially released a 2-minute trailer to get us more hyped for its eventual launch, along with a Tagalog version voiced by our very own Liza Soberano.
Trese initially revealed back in 2018, followed by the announcement of Shay Mitchell (Pretty Little Liars, YOU) and Liza Soberano (My Ex and Whys, Alone/Together) as the voices for the lead character, Alexandra Trese.
The Netflix Original Anime series is based on the Philippine graphic novel created by Budjette Tan and Kajo Baldisimo. Trese is set in Manila, where the mythical creatures of Philippine folklore live in hiding amongst humans. In the story, private detective Alexandra Trese finds herself going head to head with a criminal underworld comprised of malevolent supernatural beings.
With Trese, you can expect wall-to-wall fight scenes as well as plenty of appearances from creatures in Filipino folklore like Capres, Aswangs and more. The trailer paints a picture of Alexandra Trese as being similar to John Constantine, and we’re absolutely thrilled to see where the series takes us.
Trese is almost here, and we’re hyped after watching the Netflix trailer for it. Also check out He-Man Returns With Masters of the Universe: Revelation.
