After Unbox Con last June 18, this colletibles-focused event went bigger with the 2-day-long Unbox Fest 2022. Also held at SMX Mall of Asia, the event has more highlights that include a cosplay competition and a live band performance.
The event recently concluded, and let’s recap all of the good things that happened:
A wide variety of collectibles being sold
Being an event focused on collectibles, there were plenty of booths selling sneakers, art toys, cards, stickers, apparel, and more. Aside from exclusive sneaker grails like the special edition OFF-WHITE Air Force 1 Aftermarket was selling, there were numerous exclusive Unbox Fest 2022 merch sold as well from Don’t Blame the Kids, Its Sole Good, and SNK ATK, along with event-exclusive art toys as well.
Sale Galore!
Those who were looking for great gadget deals most likely struck gold at Unbox Fest 2022 with the massive sale Digital Walker (and other tech stores) were holding. The discounts were as much as 90% off, and there was abroad selection of accessories to choose from.
Aside from accessories, select phones and tablets from brands like vivo and realme were also sold during the event as well.
Toy Auction
Aside from the plethora of art toys that you can buy, Unbox Fest 2022 also hosted a toy auction on the first day, where auctioned off pieces are 1-of-1, making themy highly valuable in the long run.
As expected, the bids were aggressive, with all of the auctioned pieces hitting at least over Php 100,000 for the final bid.
Cosplay Competition
One of the fun highlights of Unbox Fest 2022 was a two-day-long cosplay competition, with the first day focusing on superheroes and the second day focusing on anime characters. All of the participants put in their A-game with their costumes, acting, and even a few action sequences to wow the crowd.
The grand winners went home with Php 10,000 for the superheroes category and Php 15,000 for the anime category, with both winners bringing home an Instax camera.
Day 1 also had a fit contest, where participants went on stage with their best drip–hypebeast levels or not–showcasing their street style to the crowd. The winners went home with an Instax camera as their prize to immortalize all of their stylish looks.
Fireside chat with Nas Daily
Just like when Unbox Con had Bigboy Cheng and Heskicks to share their insights on collecting sneakers and pursuing their passions, Nuseir Yassin of Nas Daily shared his insights at Unbox Fest 2022 as a content creator, from growing his 1-minute video concept, finding and understanding trends when it comes to content creation, to what keeps him going in finding new stories.
Nas also shared his thoughts on the mistakes he made, on dealing with fake news and haters, and on correcting previous videos he made. It was an insightful talk especially for content creators who are looking to find inspiration.
Performance from Sandwich
To wrap up Unbox Fest 2022, iconic OPM rock band Sandwich performed for the crowd, singing their popular songs like Two Trick Pony, Betamax, and Sugod. Aside from popular songs we know from the band, they also performed No Goodbyes, which is their latest song from their EP of the same name.
Not to mention, frontman Raymund Marasigan is a known sneakerhead, and he was rocking serious heat that night with the original “What The” SB Dunk Lows from 2007. Check out their live performance of Betamax here:
